Re: GameStop
Grasping at air at worst, and minor blip at best IMO. They are
going to become the "Amazon of NFT's for gaming"? How? Gen Z
doesn't even know they exist.
What are they going to do with all the retail stores? For years
they made a ton of money off the used market that no longer exists.
Theiur model was and is based on retail presence but the buyers are
no longer there. Changing their business format to something that
is going to be very competitive doesn't make me feel good although
I applaud their belated effort. I just do not understand any
expectations that tey will be leaders in NFT and crypto. How? Why?
They are jumping on the bandwagon, not sure thow that qualifies as
leadership.
Maybe I am wrong - wouldn't be the first time, but they would
almost need to become an Amazon of sorts in NFT's to make their
valuation worth it. I just don't see it although having the Chewy
guy as Chairman and former Amazon people running the show now will
help. IBM has reinvented itself a few times, but GME has never done
it, not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. They are
essentially becoming a brand new company and that cannot be done
easily enough to warrant this valuation or anything close to
it.
