Time for Zynga

Has anyone thought about taking a position in Zynga after the blowup today? A guy I work with was telling me that they have something like $1.50 in cash/assets and are actually cash flow (EBITDA) positive. His thought was that in the low $2 you are essentially getting the business for free.

I was/am so jaded by memories of the company being terrible that I need to take another look at it--my quick thought was it is a crappy company, but maybe there is something to it (especially if King or a publisher thought about taking them out for synergy purposes).

Kip! Glad you found us! I have not looked at zynga for awhile (and maybe I will again now), but I thought their business growth potential was based upon the potential of poker, and when I sold (high 3's if memory serves?) it was because I (re-evaluated and) did not think they were going to make anything out of poker. I know Jester had some thoughts back then too, so maybe he does now.

ZNGA, if it wasn't Pincus taking over, maybe. Remember, this was the guy who got the company into such a bad position in the first place, then paid Mattrick $25M-$50M over two years to bring in his cronies and accomplish nothing. If it was someone else, sure, there could be potential here just by curbing expenses, because they over-pay people in expensive locations. Pincus was also the one who focused in on Facebook, which was a big mistake neglecting mobile (Rovio Angry Birds, Kind Candy Crush, etc.) and having an extra layer between them and their customers. So if it were someone else and Pincus was truly in the back seat, then hell yeah buying after today's 18% mauling would be a great move. Since it is Pincus, the most I'd consider is a small long trade to ride the $2.20-$3.00 range it's been in for the last 6 months. Once the dust settles you have to figure Pincus will be throwing analysts and the Street some bones like cost cutting.

As always you are the voice of reason. I haven't looked at the company in such a long time that I am starting back at square one. I am sure there will be some cost cutting going on--I am not so sure on the current state of their games.
