OT - NOK

OT - NOK Earnings report pretty much missed
expectations on almost all metrics. Down 4%. Said the latter half
of the year was expected to 'flattish'. CEO said that the company
performed well in a challenging environment, or something to that
effect. I believe INFN said something similar, as all companies
with disappointing quarters are required to say that. Only two
bright notes: 1. They raised their savings expectatiions from the
ALU acquisition from 'above 900 Eu' to 1,200 eu' - mln that is. Of
couse, that's a future-conditional statement, but it sets a
specific bar they must meet. 2. Analysts noted that ERIC is in
worse shape competitively than NOK - I am hoping that the analogy
that a man who has to jump off a 25 story building is in better
shape than one who has to jump off a 50 story building does not
apply ;-) Huwei is currently the market leader and should
prove to be a tough competitor. One analyst said (and I am
paraphrasing here) that the market their in was pretty much without
stimulus until 2020 when 5g is introduced. I hope he didn't quite
know what he was talking about, as I thought 2017-18 was the
introduction, with mainstream adoption going full steam by
2020.

My two biggest positions - NOK, INFN -
have pretty much messed the bed to one degree or another (I still
haven't seen any cogent comments on what is going on with INFN.)
Just waiting for CIEN to disappoint to have a trifecta. But I don't
believe their CC isn't until Sept. 2nd or thereabouts.
