OT - The fall
ahead

OT - So, the market is falling supposedly because
Trump's press conference provided no detail about what his economic
policy will be. Well, duh, surely everyone must get it that he
blurts out whatever occurs to him, and can't provide any detail
because there is no 'plan' behind it. He now says something like
'in the first week' he'll repeal Obamacare, and 'very shortly'
after that, will have a 'replacement plan' in effect. I'm
sure he'll just change his position (lie) because that's not
possible. Even Republicans get nervous when 'Capt. Screwloose' says
something like that,.

The day before that, he
burnished his 'ethics' by saying a rich Dubai developer offered him
a deal that would net him $2 bln dollars, and he turned it down.
Man, if there was a fund to sweeten the deal to $10 bln, so he
couldn't resist, I'd chip in for sure. Trump self-exiling himself
to Dubai? That'd be worth a lot of money. (Altho Mike Pence
is no prize either, but at least he's sane.) It's got me wondering
when/whether Trump will do something 'impeachable'. Even if so, it
couldn't pass a Republican legislature, right? My only other hope
is that he'll visit the troops in Afghanistan, and have his leg
blown off by an IED. Of course he'll say, "I meant to do that." The
guy's a vengeful teenager, at best.

Jamok,
You may enjoy this parody Twitter account, Presidential Trump.
He responds to Trump's childish sounding rants with more considered
language that would pass for a mature rational adult.

I've been horrified by the latest happenings in the last day or
two. First, he mentions Nazi Germany before shouting down CNN and
they were threatened with being kicked out, then takes a question
from a site associated with white nationalism. The media is
supposed to be checks and balances against him, not the other way
around. Today he tweeted that people should buy LL Bean products,
because one of their Board members gave $30K to a PAC for him. Nice
quid pro quo! Oh, and France's National Front leader was seen at
Trump Tower today, and guess what, they're very pro-Russian.
Ladbrokes now has odds of 11/10 on Trump being impeached or
resigning before the end of the first term.

Jester,
It's spooky when I can't tell what Trump actually said and
what's a spoof of it. Or if the landblokes 11/10 spread on
impeachment is joking or not. I have thought about the possible
impeachment (there will probably be plenty of 'grounds' one can
use.) But the Republican party would need to act unformly to kick
out a President who is nominally one of their own. Individual
actions would just get the individual scortched in response. And
most of the Republicans seem to be sucking up to him since the
elections, given how much power and favors he has to hand out. And
just ignoring the discrepencies between his words and actions -
including that the 'plan' is not to have a plan. My dream is that
once how awful his leadership is becomes stark and glaring, maybe
the top Republicans get together a 'putch' to get rid of him. And
even if (unlikely) so, imagine the riots of all the gun-toting nuts
who voted for him, as Trump would fan the flames. So there's the
problem, I can't see a realistic play-out of this awful situation
that works, or doesn't cause irreparable harm.
I once said that TTWO, given that they had the best properties
but corrupt management, was like a 5 year old in a gold mine with a
stick of dynamite. It's probably truer to use that analogy with the
political situation. Even if he *doesn't* get us into some global
conflict with impulsive words or actions, I'm thinking of how much
he can damage the country, its values, etc. He could really wreck
what it's taken more than 2 centuries to build up. I think you were
right, and I was naive about how many people would vote for this
crazo. God help us.
Then again - IIRC he said he knew more than all the generals and
he'd destroy ISIS shortly after he took office. There's the chance
that one of them might wheel a 747 through the penthouse suite at
Trump towers. Well, I can dream.
