OT - NVDA
OT - NVDA - While NVDA has an astronomical PE, I've been holding
them for a couple of years, as they just seem to execute
near-flawlessly, and keep expanding their products (and leads, in
things like AI chips) into new markets, such as self-driving
vehicles. They recently acquired Mellanox, which analysts uniformly
said was a perfect, brilliant match. Read today that they may be
interested in buying ARM holdings from Softbank, which I find
astounding, given that ARM was the brash new kid on the block when
smartphones took off. (Not sure what happened to them since then.)
I think the import is that NVDA may be striving to be the new Intel
- or at least what Intel was when they dominated most of the
markets they were in. I'm not sure I'd buy in at this price - NVDA
seems to be a beneficiary of big tech companies just kiting higher
and higher, as they seem relatively protected from consumer
pandemic problems. (Although, NDVA will have their next graphics
cards, the 3000 series, out before year's, end, and maybe as soon
as September.) But if there were to be a pullback in the
market - I think it's an interesting long-term hold play.
