Intel continues to struggle on the manufacturing technologies
front. It has been now more than half a decade of
troubles? For a company so well managed from the financial
side, it has been totally mismanaged from the manufacturing
side.
Now with rumors that NVDA is very interested in buying
ARM, it could be the catalyst for a very tough competitive field,
leading to a lot of troubles for Intel. ARM now has
very powerful chips. Apple's decision to go ahead with its own
chips (powered by ARM cores) for all Apple products is a validation
and a powerful endorsement to ARM technology. An NVDA-ARM
combo would be a new gorilla competitor to Intel.
Then there is AMD, it clearly will be the short-term
winner of this delay by Intel.
Intel continues to be the gorilla in this sector, but for
years, Intel has had competition that is nibbling at the fringes,
this delay could open the flood gates as competitors see the
opening widening.
