Bought KWEB on
Friday
All Chinese stocks are terribly oversold. Lets hope Xi
Jinpin does not ruin the bouce.

I exited the KWEB position yesterday. Will buy it back if
it keeps going lower. I am thinking around 45-46 if it gets
there. I am also thinking that if BABA trades down to
low 160s, I might trade that too

I am currently out of all chinese stocks, but what do you think
of BIDU. Up until my last trade I had traded it well and I think it
is currently under valued, but not a fan of the macro
sentiment.

I took a look at BIDU via Yahoo Finance and its Statistics
continue to be very impressive. IMO, the company is
undervalued even after discounting the fact that it is a Chinese
company and the Xi Jinping factor. Its forward PE is about
16. I think that over the longer term (say one year to 18
moths), its forward PE could rise to, say 22.
Its estimates on earnings and revenue growth clocks in at
about 20%+and15%. And while I would assume it
faces local competition, it does not have to worry about Google
since I am sure Google’s penetration in China is either none
or virtually none, that is an incredible level of protection.
Profit and Operating Margins are also
impressive.
It carries a boat load of cash in the balance sheet and
its debt is quite manageable given its ample levels of revenue and
operating cash flow.

I agree, but have been dumbfounded by how it has traded over
past ~ 6 months and also more recently

And just like that, BABA is already knocking on low 160s.
Given how fast it got there, just tells me that there are still
plenty of sellers out there. Going to wait until volume
subsides a lot and/or it gets into very oversold territory.

Now retail data in China is dropping, so eCommerce companies
like BABA, JD and PDD are dropping on the news. Lower for
longer seems the operative word on these stocks.
Not going to touch anything China related until I see some
bottoming process.
I too wonder if Xi Jinping is way over his head. Be careful what
you wish comes to mind regarding Xi Jinping.
Investment in China has to be slowing down.
In fact, I wonder if it isn’t looking for friendlier shores,
like India or some other South East Asia
country. Billionaires may also be moving money
out of the country. Xi Jinping is killing the
goose that lays the golden eggs.

My thoughts exactly. I would have thought he'd attempt to
balance it, but it is as if he is trying to kill the economy that
was built over the previous decade.

I heard one China expert mention the fact that Xi Jinping
is running a campaign that culminates with the communist party
election of the next leader in China, its suppose to take place
sometime in 2022. Obviously, he is in the running and as such
he is basically trampling on any and all potential aspiring people
to the post. I believe I understood that a lot of folks in
the leadership ring are very wealthy and this route in the markets
pairs their wealth down substantially.
It’s the law of the jungle in countries that do not
operate like we do, ok, we did for four years but that’s
another subject
